Arts & Glass Serves Up “Pottery To Go” As Cure For Pandemic Winter Boredom

A penguin Pottery To Go kit is shown with a sample of a glazed and fired penguin.

Have you tried our Pottery To Go kits yet? You can order them online, over the phone, or in the studio.

You get to pick from over 400 blank pottery pieces, including dinnerware, home decor, kids figurines, seasonal pieces, and even new officially-licensed ware like Star Wars boxes and banks. Each piece comes with travel-ready cups of ceramic paint colors to make the desired designs. Our team packs everything up in a kit that includes a sheet of tips for beginners and for seasoned artists alike. Extras like paint brush sets and gift-wrapping are also available, making the kits a great gift idea. You can then paint in the comfort of your own home, then return your artwork to Arts & Glass for it to be fired in one of our four kilns to a glossy and food-safe finish.

When you paint at home, you get to work at your own speed.

“We love that the pottery is perfectly portable, so people can enjoy some peaceful, creative time even when they’re stuck at home and lots of activities are closed,” founder and owner Angela Barrett said. “The paints are non-toxic and washable before they get fired, so it’s very house-friendly.”

You might just surprise yourself with how creative you actually are.

In a time when playdates and in-person gatherings are few, the Pottery To Go kits provide a memorable activity that yields a long-lasting keepsake that is also functional. “We’ve had people buy kits for Girl Scout troop virtual meetings and Zoom birthday parties, so that kids can still make their own creations while interacting together safely,” Barrett added. “Our favorite part is getting to see how the kids paint their artwork when they get returned for firing.”

Put a smile on your young artist’s face!

2020 Holiday Update

2020 Holiday Hours for Arts & Glass studio.

The holidays will look a little different this year, but our goal is to still help you make special memories with your loved ones. It’s been a treat to see all the holiday gifts and keepsakes you’ve made with us for the special people in your lives. If you still have to pick up your artwork, please be advised of our holiday hours above.

Pick any pottery piece and we’ll pack it up as a Pottery To Go Kit for you to enjoy or give as a gift this holiday.

If you are still looking for a creative and fun gift for someone, consider purchasing a pottery project as a Pottery To Go Kit. We have a limited number of seasonal gift bags available to pack everything up in so the wrapping is even taken care of for you! Pick any piece of pottery that we have in the studio to make into a kit, or we can help select a piece depending on the recipient for you. Kits come with four colors of your choice (we can help pick those too!) and directions; you can add on brush sets as well if you’d like.

Can’t pick out one piece for someone? Give the gift of creativity by giving a special someone a gift certificate to Arts & Glass! We have some great things planned for 2021. We are so thankful for your support that has kept us going strong through the pandemic, and look forward to many more years as your go-to place for creative experiences. We can’t wait to share our new projects, kits, lessons, and classes with you as we head into the new year. You can purchase your gift certificates at the studio or online here.

Kids Holiday Kits are still available!

We do still have a few Kids Holiday Kits available that make great Christmas gifts. Your young artist gets to paint their own whimsy tree votive or dinner plate, then we’ll glaze and fire it for them when they’re done! The kits also include a goodie bag of holiday stationery items and everything comes packed in a large reusable holiday tote. You can pick them up in the studio or order them online here.

We are proud to be open this holiday season to serve as your go-to place for positive, creative experiences. Walk-in’s are still welcome any time we are open! We are fortunate to offer three separate rooms of spaced-apart tables for seating guests. Tools, bottles, tables and chairs are disinfected after each use, and guests are required to wear masks for the duration of their visit with us. Like we said, the holidays are very different this year, but we are still here to offer a relaxing and fun environment for you to make creative memories together in. We hope to see you during the holiday break!
